The University of Sargodha started its journey in 1929 with the establishment of De’Montmorency College, which was later renamed in 1946 as Government College, Sargodha. This College was upgraded to the University of Sargodha in November 2002. With its main campus located in Sargodha city, Agriculture and Engineering colleges in its suburb, the University presently has around 19,000 students and 550+ faculty members (including 265+ PhDs in 22 departments, three institutes, one school, and four constituent colleges that come under the eight faculties of Agriculture, Arts and Humanities, CS & IT, Engineering and Technology, Pharmacy, Medical and Health Sciences, Sciences and Social Sciences) and around 1,700 administrative staff.
This university purchased a few high-tech instruments (AAA, AAS, CHNS Analyzer, FT-IR, GC-MS, GPC, HPLC, TGA, UV-Vis etc.) out of HEC’s support to the universities fund in 2006 for multidisciplinary research. These instruments were normally serving the indigenous researchers. Recently, some other sophisticated instruments (ICP-MS, SEM, Particle Size Analyzer, RT-PCR etc.) are added to this fleet out of an HEC funded PC-I grant (Rs 2.31 B) in 2018. The university is interested to expand the services circle of these instruments to other stake-holders on economical rates.
