The Department of Forestry offers four academic programs: B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture–Forestry, BS Forestry, M.Sc. (Hons.)/M.Phil. Forestry, and PhD Forestry. The curricula combine strong theoretical foundations with hands-on practical training in forest management, silviculture, and wood science and technology. The programs are reviewed regularly to align with national academic standards, evolving industry requirements, and emerging challenges in forestry and environmental sustainability. Admission criteria for each program are available at admissions.uos.edu.pk The Department of Forestry was established in 2012 as part of the Faculty of Agriculture at University of Sargodha. It offers teaching and research in the field of Forestry and serves students, scholars, and professionals interested in Forest Management, Range Management and Environmental Forestry. Our vision is to become leading contributor towards modern green economy in the era of globalization through excellence in academics and research. Admission criteria for each program are available at admissions.uos.edu.pk Teaching in the Department of Forestry is delivered by a dedicated team of six faculty members, including five PhD holders, who are active researchers and experienced practitioners. Students gain hands-on experience through laboratory work, practical training at the Forest Nursery, and educational study tours to forests. The Department’s laboratories are equipped with modern instruments, including Vertex and GC–MS, while students also have access to digital library resources, scholarly databases, and online learning support systems to enhance their academic and research experience. In recent years, the department has launched new programs, published research in recognized journals, hosted workshops or conferences and strengthened industry linkages. Students take part in internships, projects, competitions, seminars, and community outreach, which help them apply what they learn beyond the classroom.
