Profile

Dr. Muhammad Talha Bin Yousaf is an Assistant Professor of Forestry at the University of Sargodha, Pakistan, specializing in degraded soil restoration, plant ecophysiology, agroforestry, and sustainable forest management. His research emphasizes climate-smart restoration approaches, particularly the use of organic amendments to improve soil health, enhance tree growth, and increase resilience under salinity and drought stress. During his international research training at the University of Melbourne, he investigated the role of biochar on water relation traits under drought stress. He has also assessed the carbon sequestration potential of agroforestry systems in semi-arid regions and explored the phytoremediation of heavy metals using woody species and soil amendments. An HEC-approved PhD supervisor, Dr. Yousaf has authored over 17 peer-reviewed papers and 4 book chapters and brings international experience from his research tenure at The University of Melbourne. He is deeply committed to fostering global research collaborations, aiming to integrate multidisciplinary expertise and scale innovative solutions to advance sustainable forestry and environmental science worldwide. His work aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Clean Water (SDG 6), Sustainable Cities (SDG 11), Responsible Consumption (SDG 12), Climate Action (SDG 13), and Life on Land (SDG 15).
