SARGODHA, Pakistan — May 5, 2026: The Women Development Center (WDC) at the University of Sargodha organized an awareness session titled "Managing Stress, Anxiety & Emotional Well-being in Students" to promote mental health literacy and equip students with practical strategies for managing emotional challenges in academic life.
The session was delivered by Dr. Sadia Malik, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Sargodha. An expert in Clinical Psychology, Behavioral Addiction, Mental Health Issues among Adolescents, and Occupational Health Psychology, Dr. Malik guided participants through evidence-based approaches to understanding stress, anxiety, and emotional well-being.
Held at the Women Development Center, the event welcomed male and female students from across the university. The interactive session explored the psychological impact of academic pressures, personal challenges, and social expectations, while encouraging participants to recognize the importance of seeking support and developing healthy coping mechanisms.
Addressing the audience, Dr. Malik emphasized that stress and anxiety are common experiences among students but can be effectively managed through self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience-building practices. She encouraged students to prioritize mental well-being alongside academic achievement and to foster supportive relationships within their communities.
The session covered key topics including the nature and causes of stress and anxiety, practical coping strategies, emotional regulation techniques, and methods for strengthening mental resilience. Participants engaged in discussions on maintaining psychological well-being and creating healthier responses to everyday challenges.
Organized under the message "It's okay to not be okay — but it's important to understand why," the event underscored the growing importance of mental health awareness in higher education. The Women Development Center reaffirmed its commitment to providing educational initiatives that support students' personal growth, emotional resilience, and overall well-being.
The program reflects the University of Sargodha's continued efforts to promote a healthy and inclusive learning environment by encouraging open dialogue about mental health and empowering students with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive both academically and personally.
