UoS to Receive Rs. 100 Million for Nurturing Student Business Ideas

Sargodha, August 16, 2024. The Waheed Wain Incubation Center at the University of Sargodha has achieved a funding of Rs. 100 million to support and promote innovative business ideas of students. The Wain Foundation will provide funding for nurturing the business ideas of students.
This was decided during the first meeting of the Board of Governors of WWIC, chaired by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. Qaiser Abbas. Whereas the Chairman Wain Foundation, Mr. Aamir Wain attended the meeting through zoom. The members of the Board of governors, including Saleem Ranjha, Ashraf Qureshi, Rizwan Ahmed, Ahmed Raza Bilal, Salman Paracha and Samira Samar were also present and agreed to create the fund to incubate and commercialize the business ideas.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaiser Abbas, emphasized that the University of Sargodha is always committed to aligning the incubation center with international standards. This funding will enable us to enhance the capabilities of our incubation center further, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of innovation and entrepreneurship in Pakistan. The funding of Rs. 100 million will give our students the resources they need to take their ideas from the drawing board to the marketplace.
Prof. Dr. Qaiser Abbas also highlighted a recent (MoU) signed with the National Rural Support Program (NRSP) to establish a Special Technology Zone in Sargodha. This initiative will provide IT students with comprehensive support to excel in their careers.
Mr. Aamir Wain said that our goal is to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit within each student, providing them with the resources, mentorship, and guidance they need to transform their innovative ideas into successful businesses. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the business ideas of students and helping them achieve global recognition.
