The University of Sargodha organised a large-scale mega job fair, bringing together more than 120 national and multinational companies to offer employment opportunities to students and graduates.
During the event, company representatives conducted on-the-spot interviews with students, resulting in over 500 candidates securing job placements and internship opportunities. The fair also provided participants with a platform to engage directly with industry professionals, seek career guidance and gain insights into market-driven skills.
The event was jointly organised by the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (ORIC), Placement Office and Career Development Centre. It was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas and Member of the National Assembly Iram Hamid. Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan, Director ORIC Prof. Dr. Ahmad Raza Bilal, along with deans, directors, faculty members and a large number of students, were also present.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas said the initiative ranked among the largest job fairs in Pakistan and reflected the university’s commitment to not only impart quality education but also prepare students for the professional world. He emphasised the need to bridge the gap between academia and industry, stating that strong linkages were essential to equip graduates with skills aligned with market demands.
He added that the university’s vision extended beyond awarding degrees to grooming students as competent professionals capable of excelling at national and international levels. He also appreciated the efforts of ORIC for organising a high-quality job fair.
MNA Iram Hamid commended the university’s efforts, saying such events served as a vital bridge between education and the professional world, enabling talented youth to explore career opportunities and transition into professional life. She stressed that Pakistan’s progress depended on skilled and empowered youth and called for continued efforts to provide them with opportunities to utilise their potential.
Director ORIC Prof. Dr. Ahmad Raza Bilal said that leading companies from banking, education, industry and information technology sectors participated in the event. He noted that the presence of top employers at the fair enabled students to directly connect with organisations they aspired to join, making the event a meaningful step towards enhancing graduate employability.
