UoS distributes Rs2.3 million MORA scholarships among 141 deserving students

The University of Sargodha distributed scholarships worth Rs2.3 million among 141 deserving students under the MORA Scholarship Programme, funded by the Punjab Zakat and Ushr Council to support financially disadvantaged students in continuing their higher education.
The cheque distribution ceremony was held at the Malik Feroz Khan Noon Business Hall, where Chairman Punjab Zakat and Ushr Council and Member of the Provincial Assembly Rana Munawar Ghous attended as the chief guest. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan, Director Academics Dr. Uzma Shahzadi, Assistant Director Academics Ahmad Usama, deans, directors, faculty members and students were also present.
Addressing the ceremony, Rana Munawar Ghous described the MORA Scholarship Programme as an important initiative to ensure that talented students are not deprived of higher education due to financial constraints. He said the Punjab government remained committed to expanding educational opportunities for deserving youth and announced that the allocation for the scholarship programme would be doubled next year to extend support to a greater number of students.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas said that quality higher education should remain accessible to every deserving student regardless of financial background. He appreciated the continued support of the Punjab Zakat and Ushr Council and Appreciated Rana Munawar Ghous for expanding the scholarship programme so that more students could benefit from timely financial assistance.
Director Academics Dr. Uzma Shahzadi thanked the Punjab Zakat and Ushr Council for its continued collaboration with the university. She said the need-based financial assistance was awarded through a transparent process involving detailed scrutiny, interviews, documentation and formal registration to ensure that the scholarships reached genuinely deserving students.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Rana Munawar Ghous and Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas distributed scholarship cheques among the selected students.
