MOU
Sargodha, November 07, 2024. University of Sargodha and the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), Sargodha Division, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed to provide internship opportunities to students of the Department of Communication and Media Studies, offering hands-on experience in news writing, reporting, and various aspects of journalism.
The MoU was signed by Director ORIC Prof. Dr. Ahmad Raza Bilal and Managing Director of APP Muhammad Asim Khichi during a formal meeting held at the Vice Chancellor Office Committee Room. VC UoS Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, Pro VC UoS Prof. Dr. Mian Ghulam Yasin also graced the ceremony, meanwhile Chairperson Department of Communication and Media Studies Dr. Mudassar Hussain Shah was also present along with students of the department.
According to the MoU, APP agrees to accommodate interns from the Department of Communication and Media studies which will provide hands-on experience to the students in reporting. APP will grant UoS TV and VOV FM 98.2 exclusive access to its news creed to assist in their news programs. Furthermore, both parties will jointly arrange training workshops and other media related activities.
While addressing the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas stated that this MoU will bridge the gap between academic knowledge and media practices. It will equip our students with the skills necessary to excel in journalism, giving them an edge in the competitive media landscape. Such partnerships are essential to developing a well-rounded and professionally trained workforce that can contribute meaningfully to society.
Muhammad Asim Khichi, managing director of APP, highlighted the transformative shift in media. Digital media is reshaping the way we consume and produce news, creating both opportunities and challenges for today’s journalists.
He also stated that moving from traditional to digital media requires adaptability, technical skills, and a keen understanding of evolving audience needs. This MoU will prepare students into this dynamic landscape, empowering them to become future-ready media professionals, he remarked.
