UoS Strengthens Pak-China Ties Through Strategic MoU and Active Participation in SCO Digital Economy Forum

The University of Sargodha (UoS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zaozhuang School of Technology to enhance Pak-China educational and technological cooperation through joint research, innovation, and academic collaboration in the field of advanced energy technologies.
As a part of the agreement, both institutes jointly inaugurated a Joint Lithium Battery Research Centre, dedicated to advancing research and innovation in energy storage technologies. The MoU further envisions the establishment of a Joint Lithium Battery Manufacturing Unit in Pakistan, aimed at promoting industrial academic synergy and supporting indigenous technological advancement.
The UoS delegation was led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Ijaz Asghar Bhatti Director External Linkages, and Prof. Dr. Tahir Mumtaz Awan Director of the Pakistan Institute of China Studies and Host Director of the Confucius Institute at UoS. The leadership of both institutions reiterated their shared commitment to long term collaboration in scientific research, innovation, and vocational education.
In parallel with this strategic engagement, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas accompanied by Prof. Dr. Ijaz Asghar Bhatti represented UoS at several high-profile events during the 2025 SCO Digital Economy Forum, held in Tianjin, China.
Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas participated in the forum’s opening ceremony and contributed to a panel discussion on “Digital Economy and Higher Education Collaboration.” During the session, he highlighted the transformative role of universities in driving digital innovation, developing future ready talent, and cultivating international academic partnerships.
He also attended the launching ceremony of the Digital Economy Universities Alliance; a newly established platform aimed at enhancing cross border collaboration in digital transformation across higher education institutions.
