The University of Sargodha (UoS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) to foster collaboration in student training, capacity building, and joint academic and research activities, particularly in the field of Social Work.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Ahmad Raza Bilal, Director Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), and Mr. Umer Daraz Jhavri, Deputy Director, NCHD Human Development Support Unit, Sargodha. Prof. Dr. Beenish Ijaz Butt, Chairperson, Department of Social Work and Assistant Director NCHD Asif Ali Tarar were also present at the ceremony.
Under the agreement, both institutions aim to enhance student exposure to practical fieldwork and foster meaningful academic collaboration in areas of mutual interest, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
Under the MoU, UoS, through its Department of Social Work, will serve as the coordinating entity, responsible for facilitating access to academic resources, research infrastructure, and administrative support necessary to implement the agreed initiatives. The university will also support training sessions and field engagement opportunities for students, working in close coordination with NCHD and other relevant departments to build their capacity and prepare them for real-world challenges in the social sector.
In return, NCHD will play a key role in offering hands-on training and practical exposure to students of Social Work. This includes arranging field placements, coordinating capacity-building workshops, and providing access to relevant data and field insights to enhance research quality. The NCHD will also actively participate in joint academic and contract research projects that align with the mutual development objectives of both institutions.
