Amid one of the worst humanitarian crises in Pakistan’s history, the University of Sargodha has stepped forward by setting up a relief camp to support flood-hit families.
The initiative was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, accompanied by Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan, Punjab Bar Council member Malik Ghulam Abbas Niswana Advocate, Director Student Affairs Dr. Mehmood-ul-Hassan, deans, directors, faculty members, and a large number of students.
On the occasion, faculty, staff, and students generously contributed donations, while the Vice Chancellor himself also made a contribution.
Speaking at the inauguration, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas said millions of displaced people are in dire need of food, shelter, and medicine, urging the university community and citizens to respond with compassion and solidarity. “It is our collective responsibility to ensure immediate relief and long-term rehabilitation for the affected families,” he stressed.
The Vice Chancellor also highlighted Pakistan’s growing vulnerability to climate change, noting that the recent floods serve as a stark reminder of the urgent need for sustainable environmental action. He emphasized that addressing these challenges requires not only relief efforts but also forward-looking policies to protect future generations.
