The Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Sargodha observed World Pharmacists Day on Thursday with a series of activities highlighting the role of pharmacists in healthcare and the challenges facing the profession.

The representative of Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan, who was the chief guest at the ceremony, stressed the importance of pharmacists in ensuring the safe and appropriate use of medicines. He also highlighted common practices involving the misuse of medicines and called for addressing such issues through greater professional involvement of pharmacists.

Dean Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Muhammad Usman Minhas urged students to develop proficiency in artificial intelligence-based health technologies to better respond to emerging needs in the healthcare sector.

The celebrations included a cake-cutting ceremony followed by an awareness walk carrying the theme “Empowering Pharmacists for a Healthier Future”, the theme designated by the International Pharmaceutical Federation for this year’s observance.

A seminar was also held for final-semester students at the College of Pharmacy auditorium, where alumni working in different healthcare sectors shared their experiences and discussed career opportunities and challenges that graduating students may encounter in the professional market.

The event brought together students, faculty members, alumni and members of the public, with discussions focusing on the evolving responsibilities of pharmacists and their contribution to safer healthcare.
