The fifth edition of annual Book Fair held at University of Sargodha attracts thousands of students.
The Book Fair featured about 10,000 books from 13 renowned publishers on diverse topics, including culture, politics, education, psychology, management, science, technology, literature, history, philosophy, religion, economics, arts, medicine, engineering, environmental science, international relations, law, and computer science.
The Book Fair was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, along with Vice Chancellor Emerson University Multan Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ramzan.
The primary aim of the two day book fair is to promote a culture of reading among students, foster academic and research activities, and provide access to diverse sources of knowledge for students and faculty members. The event serves as a platform to emphasize the importance of books in an increasingly digital age and encourage students to develop a habit of reading.
The Book Fair also featured a dedicated Writer's Corner to honor prominent literary figures from Sargodha, including Dr. Haroon-ur-Rasheed Tabbsam, Prof. Yousaf Khalid, Miss Najma Mansoor, Zulfiqar Ahsan, and Dr. Murtaza Hassan were celebrated for their significant contributions to literature and Provide opportunity for students to engage with the works of these renowned authors and benefit from their vast knowledge and literary insights
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas highlighted the significance of cultivating a passion for reading as a cornerstone for educational development. He stated, this book fair offers student’s access to a wealth of knowledge and inspires them to engage in inquiry and research. Books expand minds and serve as a catalyst for positive change in society.
Chief Librarian Dr. Asif Naveed emphasized the enduring value of books, stating, despite the digital age, books remain a vital part of our culture. They nurture creativity, foster intellectual growth, and play a crucial role in character building, such initiatives are essential to encourage the younger generation to embrace reading and excel in academics and research, he concluded.
The book fair attracted a large number of students, faculty, and visitors, providing an enriching experience and access to a wide variety of knowledge resources.
