UoS, Bayer Pakistan sign MoU to collaborate on agricultural research and innovation

The University of Sargodha and Bayer Pakistan (Private) Limited on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on research and technological innovation aimed at improving agricultural productivity and promoting food security.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will jointly evaluate, develop and implement solutions in areas including crop protection, modern biotechnology, advanced agricultural technologies and sustainable farming practices.
According to details, the agreement is Bayer Pakistan's first formal collaboration with a higher education institution in the country.
A joint consultative committee has been constituted to oversee the implementation of the partnership. Dr Muhammad Kamran, assistant professor at the University of Sargodha, and Ms Iffat Naseem, market development researcher at Bayer Pakistan, will serve as the focal persons for their respective organisations.
The MoU was signed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas and Bayer Pakistan Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Ali.
The signing ceremony was attended by  the Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awam, university's deans and directors as well as Bayer Pakistan's country head and members of its local leadership team. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ather Nadeem, chairman of the Department of Agronomy, and Amir Iqbal, market development lead at Bayer Pakistan, witnessed the signing.
The collaboration is expected to facilitate joint research initiatives, strengthen industry-academia linkages and promote the development of practical solutions to challenges facing Pakistan's agriculture sector.
