To discuss critical issues related to trade facilitation, regional connectivity, and economic cooperation in South and Central Asia, the 5th Annual Research Conference, jointly organized by the CAREC Institute (CI) and the University of Sargodha, will be held from May 29–30, 2025, in Islamabad.
With the theme “CAREC Connectivity: Promoting Trade and Trade Facilitation,” the two-day conference aims to provide a dynamic platform for academics, policymakers, and development practitioners to deliberate on key challenges and opportunities in fostering regional integration and sustainable growth.
The conference brings together several prominent institutions, including the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Pakistan Single Window (PSW), Allama Iqbal Open University, Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE), International Road Transport Union (IRU), Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), Development Alternatives Inc. (DAI), Manzil Pakistan, Pakistan International Freight Forwarders Association (PIFFA), and ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF).
The conference proceedings are designed around three thematic sessions, panel discussions, and plenary addresses. The event will focus on regional trade flows, green infrastructure, transit systems, and cross-border cooperation. It also seeks to build enduring research partnerships and knowledge networks across CAREC countries and beyond.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas stated, “This collaboration reflects our resolve to advance regional trade facilitation and academic diplomacy. By engaging in this high-level dialogue, the University of Sargodha is contributing to shaping practical solutions for connectivity, economic integration, and sustainable development across the CAREC region.”
