University of Sargodha Hosts Third Conference on Future of Education 2025

The University of Sargodha (UoS) organized its third National Conference on the “Future of Education 2025”, to review its strategic plan and discuss the evolving landscape of higher education.
The conference attended by Prof. Dr. Rauf-I-Azam Vice Chancellor GCUF as the Chief Guest, whereas presided over by Vice Chancellor UoS Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas.
In his inaugural address, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas highlighted the University’s progress over the past two years, with a focus on academic excellence, research, innovation, internationalization, and community service.  He shared that our mission is to foster a healthy learning experience centered on critical thinking, innovation and leadership skills, empowering students to excel in an ever changing world.
Presenting key performance indicators, he noted that the QEC demonstrated remarkable growth, reflecting a 63% improvement in just two years. In the domain of research, UoS recorded an impressive 119% increase in research productivity, earning the distinction of being ranked an X-Category Research University by HEC. “Our next goal is to achieve the prestigious W-Category” he emphasized.
Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas also outlined the University’s progress in research and innovation, including the establishment of a fully operational Interdisciplinary Research Center for One Health along with joint lab with Zhejiang A&F University China, and advanced facilities such as a commercial lab testing, and a business incubation center.
Further, he underlined that UoS has introduced major transformative projects, including a 2.7 MW campus wide solarization, a data center, an upgraded central library, and the launch of UoS Web TV, soon to be expanded into a satellite television channel.
In a major development, UoS has initiated a collaborative project with China to establish a state-of-the-art hospital and boarding school on campus. The University has also launched its first international campus in Hainan Province China, and established a joint lithium battery research center in partnership with Zaozhuang School of Technology, China.
Prof. Dr. Rauf-I-Azam commended the Vice Chancellor’s visionary leadership and praised UoS for achieving significant milestones within a short period. He emphasized the need for innovation, diversity of thought, and teacher self-accountability to strengthen Pakistan’s higher education system.
He cautioned that the emphasis on excessive uniformity, risk undermining innovation and creativity in universities. “Education is evolving and to remain relevant, we must become part of the global force driving transformation” he stated.
The conference featured keynote presentations from the respective Deans of faculties and directors of various departments which include Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Aamir Ali Dean faculty of sciences, Prof. Dr. Usman Minhas Dean Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ilyas Dean faculty of computing and IT, Prof. Dr. Ijaz Rasool Noorka principal College of Agriculture, Dr. Imran Ghafoor Ch Director QEC, Dr. Uzma Shehzadi Director Academics, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Raza Bilal Director ORIC, Prof. Dr. Ijaz Asghar Bhatti Director External Linkages, Prof. Dr Tahir Mumtaz Awan Director PICS. They highlighted their recent achievements, ongoing projects, and future goals. Each presentation emphasized aligning departmental objectives with the University’s strategic vision of academic excellence, embracing new technologies, innovation in teaching methodologies, and global competitiveness.
