The Department of Entomology, University of Sargodha, organized a civic engagement seminar under the banner of Research Arena 2025, to highlight the issue of pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables and to explore research-based solutions for safer and more sustainable agriculture.
The seminar was inaugurated by Principal College of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Ijaz Rasool Noorka, who underscored the importance of informed pesticide management to protect human health, environmental quality, and agricultural sustainability.
During the technical session, Dr. Muhammad Zeeshan Majeed delivered a comprehensive presentation on the residual effects of pesticides in agricultural produce. He elaborated on the potential health and environmental hazards and shared effective preventive measures to minimize pesticide residues through responsible application and monitoring practices.
Mr. Muhammad Zeeshan from Shihezi University, China spoke on โAdvances in pesticide delivery systems for improved field protection: precision, efficiency and environmental sustainability.โ He highlighted emerging pest management technologies aimed at improving efficiency while reducing ecological impact.
In his concluding remarks, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Irfan Ullah, Chairman, Department of Entomology, appreciated the active participation of faculty members and students and underscored the importance of research-driven innovation in achieving sustainable agricultural development.
