The University of Sargodha organized the Interdisciplinary Research Conference on One Health (IRCOH-2025) under the theme "Connect, Collaborate and Translate One Health Research for a Sustainable Future." The two day conference aimed to address global challenges such as antimicrobial resistance, diagnostics and surveillance, climate resilience, public health, and sustainable animal production systems.
The conference included the inauguration of the Interdisciplinary Research Center for One Health, signaling the university’s commitment to fostering research and collaboration in the field of One Health. Additionally, the One Health Lab was launched under the Road and Belt Initiative, offering advanced research capabilities to tackle emerging health challenges. Another notable highlight was the launch of the Pakistan One Health University Network, a platform designed to connect academic institutions across the country to work together on One Health research.

Chairman HEC Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad commended the University of Sargodha for hosting the Interdisciplinary Research Conference on One Health. Addressing the conference Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research in tackling the complex health issues faced by communities globally. He reiterated the university’s role in pioneering such initiatives in Pakistan, contributing to the advancement of science and sustainable solutions for the future.
Prof. Dr. Zafar Hayat Principal College of Agriculture presented an introduction to the Interdisciplinary Research Center for One Health (IRCOH-2025) and provided insights into the vision and mission of the newly launched Pakistan One Health University Network. He underlined the importance of building strong academic and research linkages to address issues impacting human, animal, and environmental health.
Prof. Dr. Ihtesham Ur Rehman Director One Health Center stressed the need for establishing more Interdisciplinary Research Centers across Pakistan to enhance collaborative research efforts in tackling the nation's and world’s health challenges.
Prof. Dr. Ahmad Raza Bilal, Director ORIC highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary research collaboration with the broader society to address future challenges and contribute to sustainable development. He expressed gratitude to the esteemed guests, including Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed Chairman HEC and other dignitaries, for their participation in the Interdisciplinary Research Conference on One Health (IRCOH-2025).
