The Career Development Center (CDC), University of Sargodha, has launched Skill Development Program (SDP) aimed at enhancing the personal and professional capabilities of students and recent graduates during the summer break.
The program commenced with its first workshop on English Language and Communication Skills, held at the CDC Hall. The opening session was conducted by Ms. Warda Tun Naeem, Lecturer at the Department of English, who delivered an engaging and interactive lecture covering key areas including Reading, Writing, and Listening.
The session witnessed active participation from around 100 students, reflecting their eagerness to utilize the summer vacation productively by acquiring essential soft skills that are increasingly vital in today's competitive job market.
The Skill Development Program is designed to offer a series of workshops covering various technical and communication-based skills, with a focus on fostering independent thinking, creativity, and innovation. This initiative by the CDC is a timely response to the limited employment opportunities available, aiming to equip students with the confidence and competencies required to pursue diverse career paths, including self-employment and freelancing.
It is pertinent to mention that the CDC received over 2,400 registrations, and is hopeful to train at least 1,500 students and graduates during the course of this summer through different sessions.
Ms. Masooma Zahara, Career Development Officer, stated that βThis summer should be skillful, and we are committed to providing a platform where students can grow, explore their potential, and prepare for emerging career opportunities.β
Prof. Dr. Ahmad Raza Bilal, Director ORIC, appreciated the initiative and emphasized that βSkill-based education is the need of the hour, and such programs play a vital role in bridging the gap between academic knowledge and market requirements.β
Other than the English Language workshop, the program includes a variety of engaging sessions such as Creating & Growing Your Vlog, Office Management, Personal Branding and Client Hunting via LinkedIn, Pathway to Online Success (Instagram), Fundamentals of Professional Photography, UI/UX Design Basics, Career Roadmap, Resume Writing and Interview Skills, Research Methodologies, Data Recovery and Digital Innovation, and Google Suite Essentials.
Furthermore, the University encourages all students and recent graduates to stay connected with the CDC and benefit from the upcoming sessions scheduled throughout the summer.
