The Pakistan Institute of China Studies at the University of Sargodha organized a seminar titled “The New Story of Made-in-China Products in Pakistan” to explore the evolving perception, impact, and future of Chinese products in the Pakistani market.
Prof. Dr. Tahir Mumtaz Awan Director of the Institute of China Studies served as the keynote speaker and highlighted the broader narrative beyond the traditional label of "Made in China." He emphasized how Chinese products, once associated mainly with nondurability, are increasingly being recognized for their innovation, quality, and role in reshaping trade dynamics.
He said that improved quality and competitive pricing have contributed to growing consumer trust in Chinese products and the rise of e-commerce platforms has further facilitated the accessibility of Chinese products to Pakistan consumers.
He also discussed how the evolution of China’s manufacturing sector is influencing local industries, consumer behavior, and economic ties between the two countries. He further explored the growing integration of Chinese products in Pakistani households and the long-term implications for bilateral trade and industrial cooperation.
Additionally, Dr. Tahir Mumtaz highlighted the transformative role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in deepening economic ties, enhancing infrastructure, and fostering industrial collaboration between the two nations.
The seminar concluded with a question-and-answer session in which students posed insightful questions regarding market trends, the impact of Chinese brands on local manufacturers, and the future of economic relations under CPEC.
