Distinguished mathematician Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat has assumed charge as Vice Chancellor of the University of Sargodha and started performing his duties.
Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat holds a PhD in Mathematics from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, and completed his postdoctoral research at the Technical University Darmstadt, Germany. He is a Distinguished Professor and Secretary General of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences and has been conferred the civil awards of Hilal-i-Imtiaz, Sitara-i-Imtiaz and Tamgha-i-Imtiaz.
His academic profile includes 2,559 research publications, including 2,555 international publications, with more than 70,000 Web of Science citations and a Google Scholar h-index of 123. His research record also includes 131 highly cited or hot papers and 2,539 documents indexed by Scopus.
Moreover, Prof. Dr. Hayat was the only Pakistani scientist listed as a Highly Cited Researcher in both Mathematics and Engineering by Thomson Reuters/Clarivate Analytics. It also lists him among the 12 TWAS Fellows in Mathematical Sciences from OIC countries, one of eight Fellows of the Islamic World Academy of Sciences in Mathematics and one of five Fellows of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences in Mathematics.
He has established research collaborations with 97 leading international researchers and supervised or produced 196 MS and PhD research students, including 54 PhDs. His research interests include non-Newtonian fluids, nanodynamics, neurodynamics, nonlinear dynamics, renewable energy and climate-change thermodynamics.
His distinctions include the Abdus Salam Prize in Mathematics, Young Scientist of the South Award by TWAS, COMSTECH International Award in Mathematics, fellowships of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, TWAS and the Islamic World Academy of Sciences, and the International OBADA Prize 2021. He has also held visiting, adjunct and distinguished professorships at universities in China, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and South Africa.
