The Department of Mechanical, Industrial and Energy Systems at the Engineering College, University of Sargodha, organized a fire safety workshop aimed at equipping students with practical skills in fire extinguishing, safety protocols and emergency response.
During the workshop, Chairman of the Department, Engr. Dr. Haris Aziz, and Event Manager Engr. Aqeel Ahmad briefed students on initial response methods in case of accidental fire, practical techniques to control flames, and the correct use of firefighting equipment. Participants were also given hands-on training in safe evacuation procedures and immediate emergency actions.
Principal of the College of Engineering, Engr. Dr. Malik Muneeb Abid, attended the session as the chief guest, while DDSA Engr. Qasim Ali, lab staff Engr. Ali Raza Mansha, Muhammad Umer, Yasir Joya, faculty members and students were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Engr. Dr. Malik Muneeb Abid said that fire safety awareness is essential in industrial and engineering environments, and such training programs prepare students to handle real-world challenges more effectively.
Engr. Dr. Haris Aziz emphasized that the first few minutes of a fire incident are critical, which makes it necessary for students to learn essential emergency skills. He added that adherence to fire safety principles not only prevents loss of life and property but also strengthens professional responsibility.
The session proved valuable in enabling students to understand practical firefighting techniques, the importance of quick and accurate response during emergencies, and the need to adopt safe and responsible practices in future industrial settings.
