Sargodha, November 15, 2024 – Students Umair Khan and Abdul Jabar from the Department of Communication and Media Studies (DCMS) at the University of Sargodha have brought pride to the university by winning the prestigious "Best Representative Team" award at the Model Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) forum. The event was hosted by the Department of Political Science and International Relations, University of Sargodha, on November 14-15, 2024.
The forum brought together participants from various departments and institutes of the university, simulating discussions on critical international issues. Delegates represented different SCO countries, presenting their nations' stances on three pivotal issues: terrorism, extremism, and separatism.
Representing the Federation of Russia, Umair Khan and Abdul Jabar stood out for their exceptional performance. They proposed a well-researched and comprehensive resolution to tackle the "three evils," which received overwhelming support and was successfully passed by the SCO member countries during the simulation.
The Model SCO forum provided students with a unique platform to engage in diplomacy, enhance their understanding of international relations, and demonstrate their analytical and negotiation skills. The achievement of Umair Khan and Abdul Jabar underscores the excellence of University of Sargodha students in academic and extracurricular arenas.
