CDC holds two day session on women entrepreneurship

Career Development Centre (CDC) conducted a two-day session on Women Entrepreneurship in collaboration with Shaoor Foundation under a project Women Can Do -II.

As many as one hundred twenty students of various departments including English, Urdu, and Social work attended the sessions. 

The sessions were aimed to provide training, mentorship, required tools and information to the women where entrepreneurial opportunities existed and that would enable them to transform their ideas into successful startups.

Director Quality Enhancement Cell, Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, highlighted how women can be better professionals and how they can perform better in their careers.  He said that women business leaders inspired other women to pursue their dreams and they may also find it easier to balance work and family outside the traditional corporate world. 

In-charge CDC Hafiz Muhammad Alam shared his views on women entrepreneurship. He encouraged female students to build their capacities to start and grow their ventures in future.

The team of Shaoor Foundation highlighted their project Women Can Do-II that aimed at the greater economic empowerment of Pakistani women through its women entrepreneurial capacity enhancement programs. They added how it will connect aspiring women entrepreneurs with established and aspiring entrepreneurs in the United States thereby increasing the cooperation and networking between Pakistani and US entrepreneurs. Female students went through many motivational and enthusiastic exercises in order to develop their own business ideas, they further added.

On the second day of session, students were given activities to develop a business plan, following business laws and focusing on intellectual property rights. Moreover member of Sargodha Chamber of Commerce (SCC) Mrs Mumtaz Bangish, shared her life experiences with the students. She talked about the hardships and difficulties which a woman has to face if she wants to run her own business and how to overcome them.

Dean Faculty of Sciences, Dr. Nazra Sultana, enlightened the importance of entrepreneurship for women. She emphasized that women need entrepreneurial education. She further said that entrepreneurial training can equip women with the confidence to achieve their goals.
