The Syndicate takes remarkable decisions about educational, research and developmental matters

The fourth consecutive meeting of the Syndicate of University of Sargodha held on May 12, 2018. The Vice Chancellor Dr Ishtiaq Ahmad presided over the meeting and briefed the members about ongoing educational, research and development activities on campus.

During the meeting, the Syndicate issued show-cause notices to five sub-campuses established under public-private partnership for flouting laws and regulations governing establishment of campuses.

The body approved the recommendations of a committee constituted to provide the opportunity of personal hearing to the management of PPP sub-campuses. The committee had submitted the following recommendations:

 Deed Agreements of PPP campuses should be revised

 The university should revise its public private partnership policy for establishment of sub-campuses

 The revised Deed Agreement should be vetted from all bodies mentioned in Public Private Partnership Act, Government of the Punjab

 For excess number of students a special fine Rs. 20,000 for each program and up to Rs. 5000 per student should be imposed and the fine must be charged from administration of the sub-campuses

 Admissions for fall-2018 and onward should be made by the main campus.

The syndicate constituted an inquiry committee to probe into the matter of issuance of result and consideration of examination system of the students of the sub-campuses established under public-private-partnership. The body clarified that results and transcripts to the students of sub-campuses will be issued in line with the recommendations of the committee and decision of the Syndicate.

In the meeting, procedure to nominate and appoint an in-charge and chairman of a department under public-private partnership was formulated while service confirmation of several employees of the university and salaries of employees working on various projects and posts in the engineering department were also approved.

The meeting also decided to take necessary action under PEEDA Act 2006 against some faculty members and staffers, who allegedly misused their powers, practiced professional apathy, were involved in financial misconduct and flouted laws and regulations. The body approved launching of an inquiry against the university employees found absent from duty.

The meeting stopped the sale of Khush-Aab water in the open market and ordered its sale only at University Medical Complex and Research Centre and University Canteen.

The house approved internship programs for brilliant students of the university and referred to Finance and Planning Committee for financial impact regarding their remuneration.

The Syndicate agreed to grant 30% of the minimum pay scale as the social security benefit in lieu of pension to contractual employees of the university who have been appointed after meeting all the legal formalities.

The body approved to grant extension to the faculty members of various departments of main campus, Bhakkar and Mianwali sub-campuses who have completed five years satisfactory service, up to a period of six months or till the regular appointments in the university.

The meeting of the Syndicate was attended by Higher Education Commission Consultant Dr Mehmoodul Hasan, Government College University Lahore Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hasan Amir Shah, Government College Women University Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Dr Noreen Aziz Qureshi, MPA Malik Muhammad Waris Kalo, MPA Dr Nadia Aziz, Foundation for Development of Education President Hafeezullah Khan Niazi, UoS Additional Registrar Chaudhry Izharul Huq and deans of various faculties.
