UOS Student wins first place in poster contest at the 21st Cancer Congress ONCO 2017
Faisal Gulzar, a Ph.D. scholar at the University of Sargodha, presented his poster at 21st Cancer Congress ONCO 2017 held at the Serena Hotel, Faisalabad. He won the best poster award for his poster titled ‘A Grounded Clarification of Why Women Present Advanced Breast Carcinoma’.
Cancer Congress is a conference held annually by the Pakistan Society of Clinical Oncology (PSCO), Faisalabad. PSCO is the only cancer society registered with the Government of Pakistan.
21st Cancer Congress ONCO 2017 was held from March 31 to April 02, 2017. It was hosted by the Department of Clinical Oncology of the Punjab Medical College, and Allied Hospital, Faisalabad, in collaboration with the Punjab Institute of Nuclear Medicine (PINUM), Faisalabad and the Department of Clinical Oncology, Sargodha Medical College, Sargodha under the auspices of Pakistan Society of Clinical Oncology, Faisalabad.
Faisal Gulzar is doing Ph.D. in Pharmacology at the University of Sargodha. He has, in the past, won numerous accolades for his work including Young Researcher Award from the Innovative Youth Forum, Pakistan in 2014, and Young Researcher Award from the European Association for Cancer Research (EARC) at the occasion of 3rd EACR-Sponsored Anticancer Agent Development Congress held in Izmir, Turkey from May 18 -19, 2015. In 2014, he won travel grant from the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) to attend a course offered by the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) in South Africa, and attended a course offered by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in Lyon, France funded by the World Health Organization (WHO).
