Fine Arts Department held two Paintings and Graphic Arts Exhibitions in a row to mark the International Women’s Day (March 8) and Pakistan Day (March 23).

Young artists, both male and female students, celebrated women’s achievements and struggles at the Posters and Paintings Exhibition marking International Women’s Day organised by the Department of Fine Arts on 8 March 2017.

On display were the difficulties that a woman has to face because of her gender; the discrimination, the frustration, anxiety, the unseen boundaries that she is supposed to stay within; the chains that shackle many women even to this day and age, and the hopes that she has of a better future.

Multidimensional artwork by students in both categories celebrated the courage and determination of women, as well as the progress we have made in empowering women and ensuring gender equality.

The exhibition provided the students with an opportunity to use their creativity to pay tribute to women, while serving as a powerful trigger for reflection for visitors from inside and outside the university.

The exhibition of paintings and posters marking the Pakistan Resolution day portrayed how the idea of Pakistan was conceived and what the country has been able to achieve since independence. Great tributes were paid to Founding Father Muhammad Ali Jinnah and his progressive vision for Pakistan. National resilience in the wake of formidable challenges like terrorism was on display at this youthful expression of art.

More than 100 painting and posters were exhibited, most of which were by young female artists. They can be viewed here at the official Facebook page of University of Sargodha.
