Muhammad Khubaib Rasool, Muhammad Sumeed Afzal & Faraz Butt represented the University of Sargodha at the 10th All Pakistan MediaFest’17 held by the prestigious Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI) in Swabi.
This event is held annually by the GIK institute in Swabi, KPK, and it is one of the most awaited events among all the media festivals held by any educational institution in Pakistan. This festival provides students with the opportunity and platform to showcase their skills in photography (landscape, cultural, and on-spot photography), graphic design (poster, logo, and magazine cover), and videography (short films, short commercials, vines, and music videos).
This year, this festival was held from February 17 to 19. Student teams representing different universities from all provinces of Pakistan gathered in Swabi. Twelve teams with more than 180 participants competed against each other for the Vines segment of videography, and the MKR Vines of the Graphics and Media Society (GMS), UOS brought home the runner-up award for this vine. In the MediaFest, Vines segment is an on-the-spot videography competition where the participants are given a theme and limited time to come up with an original idea, and present it as a vine of duration anywhere between 30 seconds to 2 minutes.
Muhammad Khubaib Rasool, Muhammad Sumeed Afzal & Faraz Butt- the brains behind the MKR Vines of the Graphics and Media Society, and the flag bearers of UOS at this MediaFest- are our students from the final semester of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, BSCS.
Not only did the GMS represent UOS and shine bright at the MediaFest this year, but also they have won competitions in the past. In 2015, GMS won the third place in the photography module of All Pakistan MediaFest’15 held by the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. The same year, GMS teams won first and second place in photography module of the Zestival’15 held by the Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan.
You Go, GMS!
