College of Agriculture

Agriculture is the process of cultivation of land or soil for production purpose. This sector is the backbone of every economy which provides basic ingredients to mankind and now raw material for industrialization. Agricultural prosperity contributed considerably in fostering economic advancement in many advanced countries. Pakistan is agrarian economy by default where over 45 percent of the country's employment is generated directly by the agrarian sector.

The College of Agriculture is one of the most important departments of the University. As extreme poverty and hunger are predominantly rural with smallholder farmers and their families making up a very significant proportion of the poor and hungry,therefore our aim is to eradicate integrally linked poverty and hunger by playing our role in boosting food production, agricultural productivity and rural incomes.

The College consists of the Departments of Entomology, Agronomy, Animal Sciences, Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, Horticulture, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Plant Pathology and Soil and Environmental Sciences. The College offers BSc (Hons) in Agriculture and Animal Science and MSc (Hons) in Agronomy, Entomology, Agri. Extension, Animal Nutrition, Horticulture, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Soil Science and Plant Pathology. It also offers PhD in Entomology, Agri. Extension, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Plant Breeding & Genetics, Soil Science and Agronomy.

The College has highly qualified faculty, latest equipment and farm land to cater the needs/research requirements of students and staff in the field of agriculture. The faculty is promoting collaborations with national and international universities that would be a great benefit to the students and staff to exchange innovations with different countries.
