Education

Department of Education, University of Sargodha, (Established in March, 2003) with 10 PhD faculty members, is one of the prime centres of social scientists working essentially for teacher education and educational research in Pakistan. Due to the intrinsic enthusiasm and unstudied devotion of the faculty members, in a transient period of a decade and half, the Department has grown its commitment to the high standards in teaching and research. We aspire to craft a channel of competence serviceable to fresh as well as seasoned teachers and social scientists expected to be vital to the future. We believe that it is indispensable to arrest prospective teachers’ imagination and inquisitiveness from their very first day at university; and to introduce them to progressive ideas with modules fabricated to engage their inventiveness and creativity, while at the same time constructing a firm foundation in critical 21st century skills. This is the reason that more than 90% of our graduates are employed. The Department has more than 100 trainings/seminars/workshops and more than 200 research papers on its credit. We are committed to conduct high quality research of practical value. We are thoughtful in purpose and direction of our research and teaching streams. We offer both beginners and professionals the opportunity to learn. We are focussed upon the pervasiveness of education – zeroing on teaching and learning as a lifelong course, cognizant of inclusivity and social justice, incarnating values and principles, desirous of instilling peace and coexistence among knowledge workers of information based society. Our Vision is to make Pakistan a true knowledge economy. Our Mission is to make Sargodha a micro-example of knowledge economy.
