The Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences was established by an administrative order in 2006. It is one among all the 09 faculties created by UOS. This Faculty comprises of Sargodha Medical College, and Departments of Medical Education, Physical Therapy, Medical Nutrition & Dietetics and Allied Health Sciences. The Sargodha Medical College (SMC), the first institution under Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, started MBBS degree in 2006 after due recognition by PM&DC Islamabad, whereas the MCPS and FCPS degree programs are also offered since 2009, in collaboration with College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) Karachi. The M.Phil and PhD Programs in different disciplines offered since 2012 onwards. It is the first ever public sector medical college in the Punjab run by a public sector university. Community Oriented Medical Education (COME) curriculum offered by the college is in line as recommended by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC), Islamabad and University of Health Sciences, Lahore. The Department of Physical Therapy was established in 2010 and situated at Sargodha Medical College Campus. The Department of Physical Therapy has started DPT, a five year degree in the same year.
The Medical Nutrition and Dietetic Department has also been established at Sargodha Medical College Campus, under the auspices of Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences, University of Sargodha in 2010 where DHND, 5-year degree course is available for students of Human Nutrition. The department of Allied Health Sciences was created in 2012. The start of BSc (Hons) in Allied Health Sciences (AHS) was launched in 2014, which now has been renamed as Doctor of Medical Labs Sciences (DMLS) 5-year degree programs. The establishment of Institute of Allied Health Sciences has been approved by the worthy Vice Chancellor already. In addition, Department of Medical Education has also been working since 2010 and is actively involved in staff development and training of medical practitioners and teaching faculty. The Faculty has approved the start of MPhil and PhD courses in various Medical disciplines, which are running since 2012 onwards. Moreover, short & long term diploma courses are also available under the Skilled Manpower Development Program. The admission process in various disciplines are usually started from the month of September and completed upto November each year.
