UOS sister-students do it again: win some more medals in martial arts

Two sister students of University of Sargodha, Sumera Imam and Rukhsana Imam, were all over primetime news on TV channels Thursday, 2nd February – for winning some more medals in a sporting activity that is often the domain of male students.
They have represented the University in numerous contests held in Judo karate, Taekwondo, Wushu, and boxing and won several medals for the University. In January, both repeated the same performance in an all Pakistan championship of university students held at Sardar Bahadur Khan Women's University in Quetta, Balochistan.
Sumera and Rukhsana have not only overcome the social and economic constraints by entering into androcentric domains of martial arts but also displayed extraordinary feats in regional and national competitions. They are a pride of the University of Sargodha.
Hailing from an impoverished family and backward social surroundings, Sumera and Rukhsana are daughters of a menial worker have won 15 gold medals and 30 medals in total. They now aspire to run for the international competitions and represent Pakistan in the world.
