UOS signs MOU with Regional Tax Office Sargodha

Realizing the pivotal role of the university sector in national economic development, University of Sargodha has taken a major initiative to establish collaborative links with the Regional Tax Office (RTO), Sargodha, an agency of the Federal Board of Revenue.

For the purpose, UOS Vice Chancellor Dr Ishtiaq Ahmad and Shahzada Tahir Zaman, Chief Commissioner, Inland Revenue RTO signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 30 January 2017. The signing ceremony, participated by officials from the two organizations, was held at the Committee Room of the Vice Chancellor Office.

 The MOU covers a variety of collaborations, which, among others, cover the following areas:

  • RTO Sargodha will arrange trips of UOS students from the disciplines of Agriculture, Allied Health Science, Business Administration, Commerce, Engineering, Food Sciences, and information Technology to relevant manufacturing units, business centres and tax facilitation offices in Sargodha and the region.
  • RTO Sargodha will arrange seminars and workshops in various departments of UOS about tax awareness, incentives, motivation and facilitation and will also arrange tax awareness walks by UOS students and faculty.
  • RTO will nominate students as tax ambassadors in each department. On the other hand, the University will facilitate in corporate tax related courses in its curriculum.
  • The University will invite officers posted at RTO Sargodha as guest speakers to deliver topical lectures for the students. Also, UOS will collaborate with RTO will help in placing the students in local industry and business centres as internees.

 On the occasion, the heads of UOS and RTO pledged to implement all the collaboration activities included in the agreement, starting with a friendly cricket match between members of both organizations.

Chief Commissioner Shahzada Tahir Zaman appreciated UOS’s exceptional contribution to the development of Sargodha city, and offered his organizational assistance for forging UOS links with local industry and businesses.

Vice Chancellor Dr Ishtiaq Ahmad thanked him for extending full support to the university, promising to tangibly follow-up on all the actionable objectives in during 2017 and beyond.
